Beverley’s poems aim to entertain, inspire, and encourage my readers and listeners to contemplate various aspects of life through the rhythm and rhyme of poetry.

Beverley started writing poetry at 50 years of age. At 60, during the COVID lockdown in 2020, she taught herself how to create a website, social media profiles, podcasting, Ebooks and print-on-demand books to share her poems and verses with the world. Beverley carefully chooses eye-catching feature images for each poem. She also composes songs from her favourite poems. Her passion is to offer her audience as many mediums as possible to connect with her poetry.

Beverley is the proud mother of two adult daughters. She has worked in Banking, Finance and Mortgage Broking, small business management, and as a volunteer High-Security Prison Chaplain. She lives in Australia.

What type of poetry do I write?

I write and speak in clear, simple English so that my story poetry is understood by people worldwide and from all walks of life.

In 2018, I was inspired, to share my poems as spoken word poetry, by accidentally finding spoken word poet Sarah Kay on Youtube, then in 2019, I met Jet James, a local artist who has a shopfront in Yeppoon, Queensland, Australia, full of his original artwork decorating a range of products. I fell in love with how an artist could share their artwork in different mediums that brought their artwork right into a person’s life and home. I then had a clear image of how to bring my poetry to life.

Finally, in early 2020, during the Covid lockdown, I listened to an encouraging talk titled ‘Blogging Your Ministry, 15 May 2007, by Tim Challies. I connected with his explanation of how blogging was a unique way to allow my personality and individuality to shine through my poetry and connect with my listener and reader.

My story as a poet started a long time ago

When there were no computers in family homes

The phone was screwed to the wall in the family room or hall

And featured one shrill chime and a nail breaking dial.

When people didn’t PIN to show their INTEREST

When we got bogged in mud not BLOGGED in words

When to POST was to put a stamped envelope in a box on the side of the road.

A time when birds TWITTERED not people

When to be LINKED IN was when dad linked the trailer by a chain, to our car’s tow bar

To WordPress was to press words on a piece of paper with a stamp made of rubber

To INSTAGRAM was to send an instant message by telegram in SHORTCODE and finger tapping.

A REDBUBBLE was created by blowing red liquid through a bubble ring

To FACEBOOK was to turn your FACE to read a BOOK’s printed page

To PODCAST was to cast the pod of a pea into the water to cook for dinner.

Now in 2021

I TWITTER with PINTEREST at how LINKED IN I am

At POSTING and SHARING and WEBINARING

Though sometimes I am PRESSed for WORDs and feel BLOGGED

But, when I PRESS the WORD ‘PUBLISH’, I feel INSTAGRAMification.

That’s when I take time to CONNECT

You see, I’m IN T NET, we’re FAVOURITE FRIENDs

We stay CONNECTED by SHARING our LIKEs

Our COMMENTS empower our HARD DRIVE.
