Hi, I’m Beverley Joy of Simply Story Poetry. I have written many story poems since 2011 about life experiences, personal development, nature, relationship, friendship, love and my beliefs and faith. Since 2021, I have shared two poems each week online through various mediums: website, social media, podcast and selling verses on my online shop.

I have worked in Banking, Finance and Mortgage Broking, small business management, and as a volunteer Prison Chaplain. I live in sunny Queensland, Australia, I am the proud mother of two adult daughters.

It is never too late in life to start something new.

What type of poetry do I write?

I write story poetry about life, nature, friendship, love and my beliefs and faith. I deliberately write and speak in clear, simple English so that my poetry can be understood by people around the world and from all walks of life. You can read or listen to my poems and verses at Simply Story Poetry on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Podcast, Instagram and LinkedIn on this website.

In 2018, I was inspired, to share my poems as spoken word poetry, by accidentally finding spoken word poet Sarah Kay on Youtube, then in 2019, I met Jet James, a local artist who has a shopfront in Yeppoon, Queensland, Australia, full of his original artwork decorating a range of products. I fell in love with how an artist could share their artwork in different mediums that brought their artwork right into a person’s life and home. I then had a clear image of how to bring my poetry to life.

Finally, in early 2020, during Covid lockdown, I listened to an encouraging talk titled ‘Blogging Your Ministry, 15 May 2007, by Tim Challies. I connected with his explanation of how blogging was a unique way that would allow my personality and individuality to shine through my poetry and connect with my listener and reader.

In this silent world of no face-to-face

Of scrolling and flicking, I wonder if…

My posts get read, my information heard

Do I connect with my audience?

I’m just trying to get my message out there

On the crowded online world wide web

A small soft voice in a huge theatre

Filled with busy people, preoccupied.

Your smiles and high 5’s

They encourage and uplift

It Makes Me Twitter – PODCAST

My story as a poet started a long time ago

When there were no computers in family homes

The phone was screwed to the wall in the family room or hall

And featured one shrill chime and a nail breaking dial.

When people didn’t PIN to show their INTEREST

When we got bogged in mud not BLOGGED in words

When to POST was to put a stamped envelope in a box on the side of the road.

A time when birds TWITTERED not people

When to be LINKED IN was when dad linked the trailer by a chain, to our car’s tow bar

To WordPress was to press words on a piece of paper with a stamp made of rubber

To INSTAGRAM was to send an instant message by telegram in SHORTCODE and finger tapping.

A REDBUBBLE was created by blowing red liquid through a bubble ring

To FACEBOOK was to turn your FACE to read a BOOK’s printed page

To PODCAST was to cast the pod of a pea into the water to cook for dinner.

Now in 2021

I TWITTER with PINTEREST at how LINKED IN I am

At POSTING and SHARING and WEBINARING

Though sometimes I am PRESSed for WORDs and feel BLOGGED

But, when I PRESS the WORD ‘PUBLISH’, I feel INSTAGRAMification.

That’s when I take time to CONNECT

You see, I’m IN T NET, we’re FAVOURITE FRIENDs

We stay CONNECTED by SHARING our LIKEs

Our COMMENTS empower our HARD DRIVE.

Simplicity – I write in plain English

Influencer – I write to encourage and entertain

Methodical – I am systematic, well organized and pay attention to detail.

Poetic – I am a wordsmith, I love words, the rhythm and rhyme

Most of the product range that I decorate with my ORIGINAL WORD ART is made in Australia, so I am excited and proud to support local employment. They are also available overseas as Redbubble is a global online marketplace for print-on-demand products.

My product range includes stickers, magnets, greeting cards, posters, wall art and home decor accessories and, are priced between A$2.00 to A$45.00 plus a reasonable delivery fee. Redbubble offers outstanding customer support, and a 90 day, replacement, money back or store credit policy.

Redbubble’s Head Office is in Melbourne, Australia, where it was founded in 2006, and also has offices in America and Germany. Redbubble enables indie artists to sell their original artwork, that cannot be found anywhere else. The artist maintains the copyrights to their work, regulate their own prices, and decide which products may display their designs.

In 2022, I will also have collections of poems available to buy as audio, print-on-demand and ebooks. I am at present learning how to produce these types of products.
