Climbing Back to Normal – Life changing disease Part 9

Resilience and determination to resume my poetry writing

After overcoming spinal surgery and radiation for cancer, I am grateful to be able to resume writing and sharing poetry. Amidst struggles with nausea, pain, and fatigue, I emphasise patience and perseverance to finally return to what was once my normal life following what was such a crazy, unsettled, unusual time in my life. While my computer silently awaited my return, I focused on assessing my purpose with patience and resilience. This poem is Part 9 of a series about my journey with cancer. Beverley Joy

Listen HERE – Poem – Climbing Back to Normal

Before the sun has risen

I contemplate my position

Back surgery, now stabilised

Radiation has minimised.

I disappeared from the online scene

These past few months, my website has been idle

Stuck in limbo with new bedfellows

Cancer, nausea, pain and fatigue.

My wound has been a distraction

From poetry composition

But now I’m able to proceed

Writing and sharing new poetry.

My computer silently waits for me

To get well enough to publish

A time to assess my purpose

Be patient and resilient.
