Celebrates reaching the milestone of sixty years with humour and warmth
The poem reflects on ageing, family, and cherished memories, capturing the essence of embracing this new stage of life. The seaside setting underlines the beauty of the moment.
It was a beautiful Queensland sunny spring day by the seaside when I wrote this poem for my brother who celebrated (or was it commiserated haha) his big six zero birthday. Family, friends, and pets laughed, sang, and barked their way through the celebration party. Happy birthday to all my readers who turn sixty this year, and congratulations on reaching this milestone in your life. Beverley Joy
What, You’re Listen HERE – Poem – What You’re Turning 60?
Oh Brother, sister, friend, you’re turning sixty this year
What can you do to stem the tide of youth
It’s drifting out, never to come back
Oh dear, where to from here?
As the sands of time shift under your feet
The sea breeze sprays those blue thoughts away
And you’re reminded of the reason that you’re here
Your cherished family and children, so dear.
Your mature age need not rattle the cage
Of your mind as it struggles to remember the date
We join in the celebration song
To the creaks and groans that now sing in your bones.
