Friendship

I wrote this poem after catching up with some close old friends that I had not seen for some time. No matter the span of time between get-togethers, close friends fall into conversation like it was yesterday that they were together.Beverley Joy

PODCAST – Friendship

Hello, how are you?

It’s great to see you

Hope you are well

Hope all is ‘swell’.

Now let’s be done with clichés

Let’s pull off our masks

Breathe deep and bask

In the freedom of familiarity.

No clinging or neediness

Played out between us

Just an honest desire

To share some time.

Let’s talk to and fro

Of life’s pleasures and woes

Be encouraged, uplifted

Refreshed by each other.

Physical age is no barrier

Respectfully we chat and connect

No-one feels superior

Neither inferior.

We respect each other’s privacy

And individuality

We play no games or act out scenes

To manipulate and get our way.

When we say goodbye, we disappear

Into our separate lives

Of love and work and leisure

And soon again we will say ‘Hi’.
