What is Happiness?

Happiness means different things to different people.

This poem explores the diverse ways people perceive and experience happiness. It touches on themes of wealth, relationships, personal values, and inner contentment. The author encourages seekers and finders of happiness to share and cherish it. The poem reflects on the existential nature of happiness and its various sources.

I wrote this poem while travelling 6,000 km in a motorhome from Brisbane Queensland across the top of Australia, to Broome in Western Australia. Just sitting back one day, watching people, and reflecting on the meaning of happiness. Beverley Joy

Listen HERE – Poem What is Happiness?

What makes you happy?

Money, love, or peace

Being competitive

Or joking and laughing?

Some people feel happy with lots of money

The exciting experiences that it affords

Other people don’t want abundance

They are happy with a simple life.

Some people feel happy with family and friends

Others prefer to be alone

Some want a peaceful environment

Others enjoy a busy life.

Some people enjoy being outspoken

And argumentative

Others prefer to walk away

And not confront at all.

Some want to fight and campaign

For their rights and to push for more

Others are happy with what they have

Content with minimal.

Some thrive on competing to win

Others watch those who compete

Some enjoy helping people

Others want to be helped.

Happiness for some is a feeling that comes

When the circumstance is easy and fun

For others, it’s spiritual with deep meaning

A deep joy that flows no matter what life brings.

Happiness…

If you’re still searching

I hope you find it

If you’ve found it

I hope you share it.
